BUNDY AND STERLING

This is my response to the Bundy, Sterling affair.

The level of disingenuous bullying applied to all matters of race in the country is contemptible. Sterling and Bundy have every right to express their views no matter how objectionable many find them.
The situation we find ourselves in today is not one of liberty and balance, but an inversion of the old order. Today we are told what we may say and even think by a new elite composed of sexual deviates, racial and linguistic minorities and mannish women.
I'm old enough to remember the so-called civil rights revolution of the Fifties and Sixties. Then the chant was "we only want to equal rights." Today the demand is for uncritical acceptance of every group or persuasion not white, Christian or male.
No group of people on the earth can demand love or deference. People have a right to their own preferences. They have a right to express those preferences. An expression of preference is not a crime, nor is it anyone else's concern. It's as simple as that.
We live in a regime of racial preferences in which groups contributing the least are accorded a privileged status, beyond criticism and allowed to bully the rest of us. Only an idiot would expect that condition to stand in the long term. Reaction to this is inevitable and it will not be pretty.

John Derbyshire has an excellent take of this business on this weeks Radio Derb at Takimag.com  It's worth a listen.  In fact his radio show is ALWAYS worth a listen.
